Zaki Lais

Zaki LaisZaki Lais is a man on a mission: To bring the sound of deep house out from the underground and into the mainstream by any means necessary. Starting out from East London, where Zaki still lives today, he has begun a journey that has led him to play, promote and produce the music he so passionately belives in right across the globe.

From his early debut on pirate radio stations Risk FM and Touch FM, Zaki has helped to pioneer Deep House across London's airwaves and was an instrumental figure behind the house music explosion of the mid 1990s.

His natural love for Deep House music quickly saw Zaki step out of the studio and into the DJ booth, cutting his DJ teeth at some of London's best promoter nights and most famous venues. His circuit included Lazy Dog, Vertigo, The End, Turnmills, Egg and AKA and before moving onto venues across Europe, America and Asia.

Now armed with a passion to entertain, and a vision to host his own parties, Zaki launched Muak (People Together) in 2003. Widely regarded as one of London's best underground nights, it's here where he can regularly be heard preaching the gospel of deep house music to a loyal following who share his vision to bring people together through a love of music and mutual respect sometimes so lacking from other promoters.

Not content to rest on his enviable achievements, next up was the launch of Muak (Music) where Zaki has overseen the production, release and promotion of quality deep house outputs from a range of home grown and international talent on both digital and physical formats.

When asked to convey his mission and where it might take him Zaki's response is typically passionate, "It all stems first from a love of music. Without that, how can we put our heart and soul into it and make it work. Once people see that, it takes them with us and keeps them coming back for more. As to where we might end up, who knows, we're just enjoying the journey".
