JAZZY M

To say that Jazzy M is one of the main men responsible for the UK’s phenomenon that we call house music is no understatement. "Grooverider" has been known to proclaim Jazzy M as "The Godfather of House" – a statement that accurately describes Jazzy’s contribution to the music industry. Jazzy has been responsible for introducing so many people to house music with the first ever radio show in the UK dedicated to house music; "The Jackin Zone". The show ran for ten years on LWR in conjunction with Jazzy’s record shop Vinyl Zone, formerly on the King’s Road in Fulham. "Maxi Jazz" now of "Faithless" started his career with Jazzy on the "Jackin Zone" making jingles for the show.

Jazzy M was the first DJ ever to play at the Ministry of Sound, on the opening Saturday night he played before the late great Larry Levan, which was back in 1991. Dance is a scene where each week new genres are invented and fresh DJ’s grab the limelight. It is a testament to Jazzy’s prowess and unblinkered musical taste that after playing the opening night at Ministry of Sound, he remained resident there for 7 years.

Jazzy’s recording career is a long and interesting one that has seen him work with a number of famous recording artists including Paul Weller and The Style Council, Jimmy Sommerville, DC Lee, Arthur Baker and Julian Jonah of 187 Lockdown and more recently Mother fame. Jazzy’s career holds a huge discography that includes his first ever remix recorded at Gee Street Studios working with the Stereo MC’s, the first release on his own label Oh Zone – Chime by Orbital and his first house production recorded with Larry "Mr Fingers" Herd and Robert Owens – Living in a World of Fantasy on FFRR.

He plays regularly at clubs Faith (Hull), Frisky (Northhampton) , Bed (Sheffield), L’America (Cardiff), Milk (Belfast), Soda (Swindon), Tivoli (Dublin) Zap (brighton)and Ministry of Sound, (London). An exclusive residency for Ministry of Sound in Ibiza will see him playing Pacha along with visits to Greece, Switzerland, Dubai, Scotland and Germany helps indicate the strength of someone’s name who has played in over 55 countries.
